If you search on for the word "cyberpunk" on google, cyberpunkreview.com currently comes up on the top of the third page. While this is lots better than previously, I'm still arbitrarily bugged about this. Why? Because so many of the links on the first two pages have been dormant for ages. Seriously, why does Google keep static information so high on their search results? The first page has two links to courses that are years out of date - in one case, the cyberpunk course was last taught in 1996!!!
So how can this change? Slowly I guess. About six months ago, when last I checked, cyberpunkreview was on the 8th page, so progress is occurring.
Just to be clear, I don't even mind being on the second or third page assuming all the ones in front of me are active sites like Defwheezer's most awesome Cyberpunk Radio site (currently on page 2) or the active Cyberpunk 2020 site, Views from the Edge (Page 1). It's the myriad of links last updated in 1997 which bug me.
Ah well, maybe in a few months we'll make page 2...
EDIT: Cyberpunkreview does come up on page 1 of Del.icio.us now though.

There's a very walk-around method of promoting the site, I guess
"We" (I hereby assume we're a collective of sorts, eh?) can put some nice video mashup on youtube/googlevideo with the site's url in it.
Yes, I know, nude girls would work best, but I don't think it's such a good idea, hehe.
I bet you've got better ideas than me, folks. Shoot away! _________________ "<Immortal_Peregrin> The first time I read Neuromancer was in a txt file."

Actually, if you search for "Cybrepunk graphic novel" cyberpunk reviews shows up at the first page of results with a link to a lot of drooling over Transmet', said drooling fully advocated by yours truly.

I just did a search for "cyberpunk" on Yahoo! and MSN Live. Both list CPR as #15 (mid-page 2). The Wikipedia page on cyberpunk was #1 on both.
Ask.com has The Cyberpunk Project as #1, with CPR as #12.
Not too shabby.

Woohoo!
Yeah, we're gettin there. If the wiki takes off like it is already, I'm guessing this will lead to massive increases in access.

I think you should change a few things, SFAM... I notice that when you search on Google, pages that don't have THAT much to do with CP pop up in front if their page title matches the query... if I'm not mistaken, all the page titles here are the same - CyberpunkReview (as one word), or cyberpunkreview.com. So, the website pops up first only when you search for "cyberpunk review", "cyberpunk reviews". When you put "cyberpunk movies" in, the first few hits are pages titled "Cyberpunk Movies", even though this site has arguably the most detailed Cyberpunk movie related content.
Am I wrong on this? Is it something you have any control over, given the software?

Great point. I didn't even think about that. The one word thing may have been throwing it off you think?
~Changed~
I've just changed that, but in terms of changing every page, this is more problematic. One of the plugins I'm using to do the content management stuff basically strips off the site name in the title page, so I mucked with the code to make it give the site name followed by the title of the post. So if you go to Blade Runner, it should say "Cyberpunk Review >> Blade Runner" as the title.

Awesome! Looks great. I don't know if it helps any, but I guess we'll see.

Yes!!!!!! I just typed both "cyberpunk movie" and "cyberpunk movies" into Google, and cyberpunkreview comes up on top of first page!!! Woohoo!
EDIT: "cyberpunk books" puts us on top of page two! Also "cyberpunk anime" on page two, but "cyberpunk animes", again - first page, top!!! I know that is not the correct spelling, SFAM, but it works.
While browsing using the search engine, it came to me that "cyberpunk authors" would be a neat addition to the site format... you know, as just a list of prominent CP authors in any field (books, music, anime, comics), and links to reviews of their work. It would work as both a neat category for the search, and a way to lure in visitors who are looking for the names, rather than the titles...

I absolutely agree with the authors thing - and others who are prominent, like scriptwriters like Chiaki Konaka, who wrote a ton of influential animes. Searches for key people probably make up almost as many search requests as those searching for titles of movies and so forth. I've always intended to do something like this, but clearly I'm overwhelmed with movies. I even have a template made up for this, but again, just haven't had time to even start. If you all could help me, we could make posts every now and then on key contributors. We could even brake the contributors out like you mention into writers, directors, etc.
Also, as a starting point, we can post a list like this to the wiki.

Fuckin AWESOME!! ETM, you are Da MAN!!
On a search of "cyberpunk" we're now sittin second from the top on page 2!!! I'm guessin the name change was a good idea!
EDIT: Even though Google says it hasn't scanned cyberpunk review since Feb 5, I've definitely seen lots of googlebotting here, so perhaps its just the front page that refers to.

Hellz yeah! I'm guessing with the different format, the number of times "cyberpunk" appears per page has greatly increased, and I would bet that my assumption on the importance of page titles is close to the mark... let's hope that, with added content, it's only upwards from here.
EDIT: On my search, clicking on the "cached" link took me to the page as it was on the 7th, so yeah, I think it actually worked.

There's no other explanation for it. Nothing else has changed, so for it to jump like that, it has to be the name change. Great suggestion, ETM!
