Okay, I find a lot of tech / cyber punk related news, mostly about technological development and progress, establishment of a surveilance / police state, internet culture and other stuff that I find intereting or just plain cool.
South Korea is gonna be some kind of internet addicts heaven in not too long..
Britain is keeping better and better track of its citizens actions and are keeping people monitored..
The UN proposes"internet bill of rights".
The State of Texas want sto use live boradcasted imgaes of their borders and feedback from the public through the net to monitor their border.
US Air Force takes the battle to Cyber Space.
Sony makes super-light laptop.
That's it for today.
Gotta head off to class.

Am I terribly wrong in thinking negative side effects of breast implantations are kinda fun?
In our pursuit of "beauty" and "perfection", we bring upon us pain and suffering and leaking breasts and whatnot..

Damn, I closed the tab after writing.. a million pages of news and stuff!
..
Not quite, I'll start over.
The cow / human xhimera thing is sensationalised and the headline draws attention away from the real issue.
SCientists want to use unfertilized cow eggs instead of human eggs to grow stem cells.
The cow eggs would have their genetic material drawn out of them and replaced with human DNA, then they're going to watch the little buddies grow into stem cells..
DARPA developing real time translation device.
Not exactly news, but it's got loads of robots!
(And we all know robots kick ass...)
"Zango" has been fined for forcing software on people..
Google spreads its tentacles offline.
I think that was all...

Slow day today...
IBM is going to invest in "virtual worlds". Seems they want to create actual online stores which one can "walk around" in and watch items instead of browsing through catalogs online..
Microsoft is also looking into "virtual worlds", but they want 3D photo viewing..
Cars are going online for a number of different services.
Googles tentacles spreads into doctoring..
PS3 on display in Akiharbara.
Mars Rover mission might go down the ditch.
New mobile phone with "location abilities".. Looks kinda cool but the paranoid maniac in me fears for even more surveilance...
And finally, Yahoo wants to blur the lines between instant messages and email.

I've been binging and playing concerts, sleeping on the couch in a few of my friends' flat, haven't had internet access at all..
Here's what interested me (and hopefully yous guys) today:
Very Minority Report stadium.
More super-computing...
Web 3.0 under early development.
My fear for a total surveilance state grows
ever stronger...

imho, this doesn't sound too impressive. It almost read like a commercial. I think this far from true VR or even something close to true VR. I think this kinda of stuff is already here but its kind off not relevant.
Web 3.0? Wtf? Thats lame. Web 2.0 is not even truly defined yet, and people are already making sensationalist statements about web 3.7 SP2. I think the web should be seen as an evolving entity not an entity with fixed version upgrades. I think the Web X.X craze should rather be seen as mixture of HTML, Javascript, XML.
Though some of the stuff in this thread is pretty interesting. SFAM should make a user submittable/manageable news section on the main page. That would be kinda cool and very suitable.

That would be very cool actually. But phpBB and Wordpress user account sync can be pain in the ass. _________________ But then again who lives...

You don't have to use to integrate phpBB and Wordpress. There are easier ways to integrate them. I think phpBB even has a module or something like that. Check out the following site:

and their forum

We need something like that!

I have to agree with you. The ability to transfer power would be a real life changer. I am looking forward to the day this becomes a reality. For one, my cats wouldn't keep chewing on all my power cords!
