creating a CPR emergency team / A Call to Arms for CPR |

Hi,
members, folks, fans and lovers of CyberPunkReview (CPR)
we had a little downtime for some days,
to prevent this in the future, we must establish a CPR emergency team.
I can download the website, but am a bit afraight that i destroy the website, because of bandwidth.
people we need are:
a free space as back up
website developers
editing hyperlinks
etc.etc
anyhow, i dont want to insult SFAM , founder of CPR. Because of lack of SFAM being here, maybe he is shot dead, who knows, it might be a good idea to establish an emergency team
we communicate by facebook or IRC.
okay ?
All volunteers are welcome.
This is an official Call To Arms for the survival of CPR when the event might happen that CPR might be banned, forbidden, or just lost on the internet!
I dont want a second www.Axismutatis.com to happen

I'm game.
I can provide:
-Ample experience in phpBB-administration.
-Some web developing skills.
-Storage space for the db.
-Cleverly timed spontaneous remarks.
the ultimate solution would be if sfam could be found and convinced to sign over the ownership of the site to either tonehog or the Evil Conglomerate of CPR (this is mostly a feverish dream). Full control of this site would be the best, methinks...

yes devious are the plans of makign their own cpr with blackjack and hookers! but now we have access again I think tone can just backup a restore file to host elsewhere.

It's a suicide to change the domain name since cyberpunkreview.com is quite popular both in search engines and by the references from other sci-fi forums.
But having hands tied without having the hosting access is not a way to develop the community either.

This is NOT about hating SFAM or CPR, but as emergency team, mutha fucka Wiggett.

i agree,
but in case of total dead of CPR
it is NOT stupid for an emergancy plan , remember the emmerce of forbidden websites, etc.etc.
ifs not stupid, i dont want CPR to replaced, okay
never at the same time, flatroze
but when cPR is dead after .... dunno 4 weeks or so, we need an emergency team, or not ? i am a creator, NOT a user. i make my own programs/

I enjoyed Axismutatis. Always wondered what happened to it. Bottomquark.com too. One day they were both just gone and never came back.
Same thing happened to the old hackers.com community. Someone hijacked the domain name then the people running it gave up on it and never bothered trying to bring it back. I think they won a court case then sold the name off for a hefty bit of cash.

I am absolutely for creating security copies of the forum and/or the website. We already build up a large storage of resources of a huge set of Cyberpunk topics. From Computerchip Development to AI, to ethics of technology, to Programming languages and even "cool hairstyles". It would be extremely hard to rebuild that. Because of this, we definitely need security copies of the site for emergency situations.
Because of this, I consider this suggestion by Stormtrooper of Death an extremely good idea.

IF you have made a mirror image, please post here stating so.
tonehog has backup of the forum, but not of the site.
Mr Roboto ought to be able to get the actual backup from the site, but I haven't talked to him yet.
Stormy has a mirror image from 08 or so, but I don't know if he has refreshed his files.
Anybody else ?

I dunno how huge the database is, but here's an idea; the mods/people who have access to the internals could maybe set up a Dropbox that only they have the access to, and schedule a backup every week or two.. that way if the site goes down again, either temporarily or permanently, we're not relying on just one person who has the keys to the castle..
